It is possible to have a marriage without infidelity.
You can have a long and thriving marriage that is free of infidelity whether virtual or sexual. Remember that the goal of your marriage is not just to marry and have children, it is also to leave a legacy of what marriage and true love is for your children. Being married is not enough, it’s more about glorifying God with your marriage.
And because of this, you have to put some things in place. You have to be proactive. You don’t want to be tempted before you find a solution. Temptation will always come and I love how the Bible tells us that there will be temptations. Being tempted isn’t the problem but falling into temptation is the problem.
Infidelity can now be practiced in different forms as the world evolves.
So what do we do to avoid being vulnerable to the temptations of infidelity and extra affairs? How do we ensure that we keep our love and matrimonial bed? How do we ensure to remain best friends for life?
These are the things you can do to avoid infidelity in marriage:
- Have a strong relationship with God, your Father: I am not just talking about going to church. But a kind of relationship where He speaks to you and you can hear him. Cultivate the ability to hear him in the loneliest, darkest, and in desperate times. Both husband and wife should have a strong relationship, where you hear God, and where God can easily caution you. Having a close relationship with God will save you, and God is very keen on your sexual life. The closer you draw to God, the more you will learn how to resist sexual temptations.
- Be mindful of your relationship with the opposite sex: Draw your boundary lies on how far you can go in talking to the opposite sex, hugging them, being alone with them, and so on. You should not have a greater relationship with other people that isn’t your spouse. Fuel your relationship with your spouse intentionally.
- Have an open relationship with spiritual mentors and believers who can call you to order and caution you. Also, find a community of believers who can strengthen and encourage you on how to avoid and overcome marital infidelity and not with people who have side chicks.
- Have a fulfilling, accountable, open, and vulnerable relationship with your spouse. The spouse on the other end should have a receiving heart to hear all that needs to be said without judgment. Process your thoughts, and think about the things you want to say. If you are emotionally and sexually starving, reach out to your partner and not someone else. - And remember that above all, PRAYER is the key. Do not pray only when there are troubles, pray to prevent troubles.
